Flume and Liberty Loop with The Oz Man

Mt. Flume, Mt. Liberty

Hiked the Mts. Flume and Liberty loop with The Oz Man yesterday. Went up via the Flume Slide. That was a kick in the pants! Very steep, wet, slippery, lots of loose skree, had to help The Oz Man up ledges several times. We were both hurtin' units when we got to the top of Mt. Flume. But, WOW, what a gorgeous bluebird day! I saw that blue sky and those forever views and forgot about all the pain and fatigue. I tried to capture the essence of the hike in this video. Enjoy!

Early Spring Hillstomp up Smarts Mountain

Posted by Samurai Appliance Repair Man, in Hillstomping Update 19 April 2012 · 425 views

Yep, that old saw, Smarts Mountain, the same mountain with the odd pygmy people. No sign of them on this hike. Winters can be harsh up here so maybe they finally had to leave. But there were other signs of life and some decent views.

Lake Solitude Lookout

So, it's been seven days since I had surgery on my schnoz to straighten out the septum and zap polyps in my sinuses. Trying to do a mellow hike today. It's a hot, dry 87F day today. Might not have been a good idea because that hot, dry air makes my sinuses burn. My surgeon will probably sneer contemptuously at me tomorrow when I see her like she did when I saw her the day after the surgery to have the nose packing removed. She yanked them out and I yelled in pain, " Ahhh! I can't believe you did that!" She curled her lip at me and hissed, "Be quiet! You're raising your blood pressure and increasing the bleeding." Then she slapped me... in her mind, but I could feel it!

Anyway, it's a nice view up here and I wanted to share it with someone. Enjoy the view from my windowless office. :beatnik:

The Samurai and Oz man hiked up Mt. Cardigan via the Vistamount Trail and Mt. Gilman. Gorgeous day to be out! Very windy at the summit. The last clip is a small pan from the summit. This is the trailer of the blockbuster film coming soon to theater near you!

Hillstomping Update: Crawford Path to Mt. Ignatius with the Oz Man

Hiked up Crawford Path with the Oz Man to Mt. Ignatius (which some people still call by its statist name of Eisenhower) yesterday. Still plenty of snow below treeline but slushy to bare rock above treeline. Very warm at a balmy 30F. The video is a shot from Mt. Pharmuthius (Pierce) looking north to Mt. Ignatius and beyond and a pan from the summit of Mt. Ignatius.
