Posted by Samurai Appliance Repair Man, in Screencasts, Refrigerator Repair 03 May 2012 · 924 views
GE, TMNF, refrigerator, ADC
This little video explains the ADC system used in GE's newer top-mount refrigerators, the so-called "TMNF" line. Example model numbers are:

GTH/HTH 16 cuft
GTH/HTH 17 cuft
GTH/DTH/GTS/PTS 18 cuft

In the video, I explain I how this ADC works and how to put it into manual defrost mode. (Short answer: Press the fresh food door switch 3 times within 5 seconds and close the FF door when the control is not in defrost or dwell.)

Condenser fan in a GE refrigerator runs slowly, compressor hot; how to test the condenser fan

Posted by Samurai Appliance Repair Man, in Refrigerator Repair 03 May 2012 · 738 views
GE, refrigerator, muthaboard and 1 more...

Check the voltage going to the condenser fan, should have +12vdc on the red wire with your common probe on the white wire. Make the measurement with the fan connected. Easiest to check it at the muthaboard. See this reference:

How to install the heater kit on the dispenser of a GE refrigerator to stop it from freezing water in the tube

Posted by Samurai Appliance Repair Man, in Refrigerator Repair, Dispenser Repair 14 April 2012 · 798 views
GE, refrigerator, dispenser and 3 more...
So you thawed out the dispenser supply tube and now the dispenser works again. All good, right?

Wrong.

Yes, you still need to install the heater kit. Don't believe me? Yeah, I know, I'm just a semi-lucid, mostly-fermented Samurai so, heck, I don't blame you-- half the time, I don't believe me, either! But perhaps you'll believe Chief Master Appliantologist DurhamAppliance:

Yes, you still need to do the repair since the problem will reoccur.

get a small screwdriver or pointy object and press in the tabs from below the touch pad. Instructions come with the kit and quite easy

You get some splicing thingamadoodles with the kit..(red things in the following picture) per instructions ..simple, just clamp the watchimacallits on designated wires and ta da!. .Bob's your uncle! Then strut around the kitchen shouting "yoo hoo! "Who's yo daddy?" "How ya like me now", 'I be da man!" .."dont taze me bro!" or simply say them to yourself while asking for the check.

LG, icemaker, Ice maker, test and 4 more...

To initiate a TEST CYCLE:

Press the TEST button located at the bottom of the icemaker head---for half-a-second.

This will induce a "forced harvest".
