Replacing the Door Springs in a Frigidaire Dishwasher

Grand Master Funk kdog calls the dance steps on this little ditty:

You should replace the pair, you need to order 2

unscrew the 2 flange brackets securing the d/w to cabinet, remove the toe kick and slide the d/w out a way - you'll see the springs/hinges on the side, pretty self explanatory when you see them. Hopefully the water line is flexible enough to allow it to slide out a bit. If it is plumbed to steel or copper line and is fixed, unscrew the valve from the frame so that it can stay put. DO NOT disconnect water line as you could be asking for trouble. If your hands are nimble enough, you might be able to install them from underneath by removing only the toekick.

The door on this dishwasher has a couple things going on with it: it falls down heavily when it's opened and the front panel is separating from the rest of the door.  The customer called me in to assess the problems and give an estimate for the repairs so they could decide whether to repair or replace the dishwasher.  Watch with shock and awe as The Appliance Guru immediately hones in on the problems with the accuracy and precision that only his calibrated eyeballs can bring to the job!

How to fix the problem of the wire harness getting broken in the door of LG dishwashers

Posted by Samurai Appliance Repair Man, in Dishwasher Repair 15 May 2012 · 621 views
LG, dishwasher, wire, door and 1 more...
Many LG dishwashers have a problem where the sound dampening material on the inside of the door softens up and the wire harness on top of it gets stuck in it and eventually breaks.  Academy Fellow CTG51 shows us his ingenious field repair for this problem.

After doing a few of these  dishwashers for wires fusing to the sound deadening material, I thought I would try some thing....A customers asked if there was anything that could be done to prevent this from happening again..I said if we had some thing that was thin and could take some heat........As I am talking,I look at has dish drying rack and what do I spy???Posted Image  It was a cutting mat,  a kind of nylon/ UHMW material..........So I stuck it behind the wires....Dropped right into a small slot at the door stiffener...... Wire repair,  CTG51 stylePosted Image.....AHH.........L.G...life is good...for techs that is... :rocker:

Common fix for a Bosch Ascenta dishwasher, slow drain and E24 error code

Posted by Samurai Appliance Repair Man, in Dishwasher Repair 10 May 2012 · 1,031 views
Bosch, Ascenta, E24, drain, pump

I have dealt with a fair number of Bosch dishwashers and have changed maybe one drain pump.  Much more common problem is stuff clogging the feed to the drain pump, and/or stuff in the outgoing  vent to the drain hose.

Unscrew the first filter, remove the metal plate, and then remove the mesh cylinder.  Take a T15 and remove the small screw that holds the drain pump cover.  Take a bunch of paper towels and a thin flat blade screwdriver and get all the popcorn seeds and other junk out of the way.

Now take a one foot long cable tie and run it up past the drain pump impeller into the tiny hole next to the impeller.  This is the very small hole that faces the back of the unit.  Keep moving the cable tie back and forth until you hear a "glug."  You'll probably see a really disgusting lump of fat come out. Clean that up with a paper towel or a shop vac.

Put everything back together and prime with about a half-gallon of water.  Hit "cancel-drain".  You should hear the water gurgling as it flows out.
