    I did 6 of these last week!
    I use one of those big long hooks that came in the old top load amana/speed queen tool kits (for pulling the big springs) to reach under and pull the spring out to the rope. That and long handled needlenose and they hook up easy - afterall, ain't gonna be used for any amana repairs anymore.
