  10. Not exactly sure I'm in the right forum for this question, but it's kind of a mixture of two... I got a call this week from a moving company.  They wanted me to go out and take a look at a washing machine (LG WF410ANR) that a client of theirs said was no longer working after the move from California to Tennessee. The moving company, of course, was responsible for any damages.  It was explained to me that the moving company hires a third-party technician to come out and prepare the machine for a move like this.  Not sure what that entails exactly but the lady on the phone seemed to suggest they take it apart a bit and stabilize the drum, and whatever. That's all I really know or she knew. The problem was that the drum wouldn't turn.  I tried a diagnostic and got error code HD 43.  That's not in the manual.  Didn't find anything with a net search, so I say factory code, move on.  I tried turning the drum by hand but was only able to do so with great difficulty.  It was definitely scraping the outer tub.  Upon inspecting the back of the machine I noticed that the bolt holding on the rotor seemed to be nicked up a bit. Odd... Now I've only taken off that bolt maybe three or four times in my short experience, but it's always been fairly easy to do so.  Maybe I've just been lucky in the past, but when I tried to get this one off it wouldn't budge, and I'm no lightweight!  I eventually had to go out to my vehicle, get a hammer, and pound on my wrench in order to get it off!  Didn't see anything out of the ordinary after I finally got it off. I noticed on the front (see pics) that the inner tub was misaligned. (Uncentered?  How would you say that?)  I stuck my finger in the gaps on either side, there was about 1/2 inch difference.  What I'm wondering are basically two things:  Could the third-party tech have bent something by tightening that bolt too much?  If so, what, in your opinion, would have gotten bent, or broken?  The rear drum support?  I ask because this is getting beyond my experience, and the moving company says they may possibly seek compensation from the third-party for damaging the washer.  I don't think the movers would be able to do this without breaking or denting something else, like dropping it or something.  Other than this, the machine didn't have a scratch on it. Opinions please?

  16. I have a SAMSUNG WASHER  WF428AAL/XAC which died mid cycle leaving water in the tub. It will not restart, no power to LED panel on display board. It stalled on several occasions prior but would reset once turned off. Trying to determine if display board or rear main board may be the culprit. Outlet is live, there is power to the noise filter. There is no audible click when depressing the start switch on the display board when removed from its housing. Thanks

  19. Hi all, thanks in advance for any help. My Maytag Neptune MAH5500 is acting weird. Everything works fine until it gets to the high-speed spin cycle. At 8 minutes remaining it starts the slow spin cycle. At 7 minutes remaining it starts speeding up as it should. Once it starts the high-speed spin (~6 minutes), it decelerates, I smell faint burning, and the tub comes to a stop. The timer then goes back to 8 minutes and the process repeats itself.   I can't tell for sure if the smell is burning belt or burning circuit board. I opened it up and the belt looks fine to me. Is it normal if there is a mechanical failure for the timer to go back in time and try the cycle again? Or could the problem be in the timer / control board itself? Thanks in advance for any help or insight! -Scott
  20. I have a 1997 Whirlpool top load, direct drive Washer, model LSL9345EQ1.  The motor is only about 4 years old.  A few weeks ago the machine made it about 3 mins into the wash cycle when it stopped.  An electrical burn odor was noted.  After some time to rest it started up again and has run fine since with no odor.  Today the machine filled with water and blew a 20-amp circuit breaker.  Again, there was an electrical odor.  I reset the 20A breaker and it completed its cycle with no problem and no odor.  I checked inside the machine and all looks good.  No sign of oil or leaks.  No abnormal sounds at any part of cycle.  Checked start capacitor with ohmmeter, checks good.  Did three more loads with no problems, sounds or odor.  Very puzzled!  What is wrong with this aging washer?
  21. I recently got a Maytag Neptune washer secondhand, around a year old. Hooked it up at my house and ran a test cycle, and partway through it started squealing very high and loud. After a moment of this, it started to smell of burnt rubber, so I turned it off. Drained it, checked if there was anything stuck in it from the previous owner or anything like that, and tried again. Same thing happened, only this time the belt had apparently had enough, and it broke. Snapped in one spot, and left rubber fuzz all over the inside of the machine when I opened it up. So I ordered a new belt (after reading up in here about finding the right one), waited impatiently for it to get here, and tonight put that new one on the machine. We tried rotating by hand first to check, and found that it spun fine in the counter clockwise direction, but seizes up completely in the clockwise direction. Not really knowing much about this (just inexperienced DIY hacks), we did a good bit of forum reading, and there was one note about one way bearings only spinning in one direction, so thought hey, maybe it's supposed to be like that, and cautiously turned it on. It went through a diagnostic test cycle just fine, but I suspect that's because it only spins in the one direction for that. When we tried it on "normal" the same thing happened, high pitched squeal and smell of rubber, so we turned it off quickly. A spin-only cycle to drain the water was uneventful, but again, that only spins the one direction. Any ideas on what the issue is, or how to better pinpoint it, and/or what to do about it?
  22. WM3367HW. ~. Was close by when the motor began to slow down, make growling noise (similar to failed bearing).  drum then struggled to turn, but Did slower than should. Turned Both directions with the " growling noise" - then LE code.  Rear panel removed, I dangerously assisted in the turning of the motor/drum while in cycle to feel an extremely short jerky type of rotation.  Eventually after resetting, the motor electrically froze - wouldn't turn. Drum turns very freely by hand when motor no on, although lights up control panel & bell charms when hand turning (even with cord unplugged) as a generator.    There's no feeling of loose or failed bearings. My 35 years of various mechanical/electrical experience tells me the electrical components are trying to turn the motor in both forward & reverse. computer control panel? shorted wires? any recommendations? thanks
