  7. I think I've read everything I can about this topic but never seems like I read what the actual fix is, and I'm sure every case is different. About a week ago I came home and the wife said she was using the microwave and heard a lot of popping sounds while it was running. Started reading up on how to troubleshoot microwaves, I have tested everything, door switches, fuse, thermostat, all HV components. Everything seems to test correctly, although I know that the magnetron can still be bad even if the DMM tests show continuity and no shorts. I have replaced the diode and the capacitor and still getting no heating. The unit will turn on, light, turntable, blower, and if I run it on 50% power I can hear the high voltage components click on and off while it's going high to low power, and the hum of what I think is the magnetron running but still the water isn't getting hot. Should I just replace the magnetron, is that the only think that's still a question mark? I really don't know what else could be bad.
  8. Heavy monogram doors tend to sag with age. GE has a hinge kit for this issue but they also made a 12" x 3" riser grey/silver in color. it was plastic and it mounted on the top of  ff/fz door to better close the light switches. Engineering came out with this as a fix for the problem after seen the problem develop in the field so it didn't come stock on any of the units as far as I know. Anyone know of a list of GE's rework/after market parts or know of the part I am referring to?
  9. The door lock engaged on its own It locked and wouldn't unlock. I tested the lock motor and got it to unlock. The motor for the lock is operating correctly. Could the board have cause this temp issue. Is there any danger since this unit is doing things on its own ? Thanks !
  10. The "normal" cycle won't come on when pushed and, as expected, the red light on it doesn't come on.    But sometimes normal will work if I push in hard at top of door at the same time that I push "normal" pad.   Thus, I suspect a mechanical problem in actuating the door switch. In trying to gain access to the door switch, I have not been able to separate the inside panel of the door enough to get to that switch.  I have removed the 8 screws around the edge of that panel. but something inward of the edge of the panel is preventing me from lifting it right off the door.  I have no assembly dwgs, but doubt that I will need them if  can get to the switch in the door. Does anyone know what would be preventing separation of the inner panel from the door?

  14. Greetings!   I'm working on fixing the microwave on my GE JKP90 microwave/oven combo.  It develops a strong odor of burning insulation within seconds of operating - yet it is working.   When I opened it up, I noticed that the black lead that connects to the primary winding of the transformer was brittle and crisped - it seems that this is the source of the odor.  That made me think that the transformer was drawing too much current to make the black primary lead burn up close to the transformer.  I assumed that the transformer itself was bad - there is what looks like a burned area on the secondary coil of the transformer, so I thought that the secondary of the transformer had shorted out.   The measured primary resistance is 0.6 ohms (test table says it should be between 0.2-0.4 ohms), the secondary is 113.5 ohms (measured to ground - test table says it should be between 60-90 ohms), and the filament resistance is 0.4 ohms (test table says it should be less than 1 ohm).  The primary and filament windings show infinite resistance to ground.   So, with the resistance measures for the primary and secondary being outside of the ranges listed by the test table, I ordered a replacement transformer.  After installing the new transformer, the symptoms are still the same...the microwave operates correctly, heats water as expected, but develops the burning odor within seconds of operating.   Has anyone seen something like this before?   Any ideas on how to proceed are most appreciated!   Thanks - Joe
  15. Does anyone have a technician's guide to the ASKO W600 washer? The latch on the door finally broke and I just received a new door (ordered the sensor too... just in case). Now I just want to collect a manual in case I need to take the sucker apart. The manual that came with the machine is not technical. Thanks all.

  19. I have a question about the transformer on this model. Most I have seen only have two wires for input (120vac). This one has 3 wires. So what is the third wire used for? Im thinking maybe for a different power setting but not sure. I just want to get my head around how this works. Thanx   http://appliantology.org/files/file/2328-ge-otr-microwave-minimanual-31-41021/

  24. Hello,   I have a Frigidaire GLD2445RFC2 dishwasher that my 6 year old accidentally fell on the opened door.  I removed the front cover and pulled the DW out slightly to inspect the hinges and cannot see anything that is obviously bent.  I also do not see where the hinge is supposed to make the physical contact to stop the door from going below horizontal to see what might be bent.  The only thing I can see is a formed imprint in the metal hinge that looks like it might be in the right place to stop the hinge on the frame.    Could someone tell / show me where the physical contact point is to stop the door at horizontal so that I can better diagnose the over extension of the DW door?     Thanks! Dennis
