  1. Kitchenaid Jenn-Air Refrigerator Service Pointer - UI Failure View File The Touch Sensor User Interface may fail to power up if the refrigerator loses power or the Cool- ing Off feature has been initiated. This is most likely to occur when the refrigerator is at a low temperature. (typically below 37°F) The customer will not encounter the fault unless the Cooling Off and On is cycled again. Pressing the Cooling On/Off button while in this failure mode can cause all the lights on the User Interface to brie y  ash but not stay on. Upon recovery, the User Interface may typically  ash the Over Temperature indicator and will operate normally. 3. Whirlpool Duet Model GEW9250PW0   I've been dealing with this dryer for about a week and a half. Customer complaint was that she couldn't turn the machine on, no lights (excluding drum, it's not working) and no reaction from the dryer. I scheduled the call and she later called to say that her husband hit it and it came  back on but she wanted me to still come out and check it anyway. So of course I go out and the dryer worked perfectly. I checked the power cord and outlet for 220, checked the main board for power, looked at the board and didn't see any burn marks and told her that it was a fairly common problem for the user interface to go out and if it happened again to call me and I'd come back to check it again and bring a ui with me.   Sure enough a couple days later she calls, I go out and it's doa. Cool, something to work with this time. I took the cover off, and got to where I could access the control board just enough to gently unplug the old ui and plug in the new ui. Lights back on, operational, good to go.   She calls me the next day, says it's out again with the same symptoms. She says she can bang on it and it will come back on. I order a new replacement ui and return to the dryer working perfectly again so I didn't replace it. Later I get two videos emailed to me. In the first one you can see dashes displaying on the ui display.   First Video https://youtu.be/lfZLeSl3YF8 Second Video https://youtu.be/bowNe6_WUw8   Anyone ever see this?
  4. This machine dies in middle of any cycle.  Sometimes does not energize.  Very intermittent.  Either is dead or runs.   At first was able to run diagnostic cycle thru compleation.  Now it will run just a few before dieing.  Able to skip thru steps & all will operate at some time or other.   I believe it is the user interface failing. there is no set diagnostic for it.   Could it possibly be CCU?    Connections and wiring inspected & no corrosion or cuts found.

  7. Serviced a icemaker with the optic sensing boards that quite working suddenly.   This unit is a fishing vacation home on the water.  Homeowners turns off refrigerator when away at main home.   IM worked for a couple of days this week then quit.  At same time light in FF went out.  Bulb is good they screwed it into freezer section it works.   I found the water inlet tube froze solid from IM into ceiling of unit.   1St thing was to steam it out.  Then I performed a optic diagnose, checks good.  Next I did the sequence for unplugging & jumping T-H & pluged unit back in per diagnostic instruction.  IM cycled in harvest mode, pulled jumper, finished cycle filling IM with water.  Looked for any water dripping from tube to indicate a failing valve.   waited the 5 minutes & board IF light checks out everything is good.    So Ice production should resume.   W ill call customer in morning to verify everything is good.   What I don't understand is that the FF section light is working again.   Can some maybe explain that?

  10. I have a 2002 Kenmore Coldspot side-by-side fridge/freeze - model 10651562102.  Several weeks ago, two unusual things happened at the same time.  1) it wouldn't stop making ice, even after I put the slide on the optical sensor in the "off" position. 2) It would dribble/leak from the supply line, and form a sort of icicle which formed on the ice bin - I guess the water dribbled along the top, and ran forward, landing on the bin.  Here's what I did: 1) Made sure the water supply line wasn't frozen - removed, checked, replaced. 2) Did the "jumper" thing on the control board to ensure it would go into the forced harvest cylce - no problems. 3) Checked the continuity on the supply valve - seemed OK (btw, the water line to the water dispenser worked fine...good pressure, no leaks) 4) Replaced the water supply valve, just in case the freezer valve was faulty. 5) Replaced the two optics boards (emitter/sensor) since have never seen the LED light on at any time since we had it (even though it made ice!)   The unit goes through harvest cycles regularly.  There is no "error" blinking on the optical sensor.  Only problem is when you would expect the unit to call for water, there is no sound indicating the valve is opening (I remember what it sounds like), and no water is dispensed into the ice tray, and no ice being made.   So, any ideas on what else needs to be checked out?  Continuity tests to be done that I'm missing? Thanks for any help here.
  11. I am curious if anyone here knows anything about the Miele PC interface that appears on most newer appliances. On the web, it is described as: Optical interface All Miele washing machines have an integral PC interface. In case of a fault, the Miele service engineer can communicate with your appliance via a laptop and quickly identify the source of the problem. This interface is also used on some models to load additional programme packages. The optical PC interface enables authorized Miele technicians access to machine history, program updates, and the addition of Miele Professional Application Packages, including specialized programs for hospitals, hotels, and emergency services gear.

  16. Cabrio dryer displays F-2 error code "Keypad/User Interface Failure. I've checked the touch pad for any sticking keys, all electrical connection for good contact that seems to be in good order. I'm not sure what the tech sheet is referring to when it says "user interface mismatch". What is an interface mismatch? -Thanks
