GE Oven Control Panel

3 posts in this topic

Hi,I have a GE Oven model #JB965S1SSMy oven control panel ERC3HP is dead.  MYreplacement part is Item # 875273 on repairclinic.comI was told the wiring is the same, so I would need to take out the old panel, and put in the new with the wiring placed as it was on the old board.I was wondering what I need to beware of as I take out the old panel.  Also, I know power surge can cause this to burn out, what can we do to avoid this in the future?  Is there anything that people do that should be avoided?  I am not sure what we did, or if it was a power surge, but would like to be careful and aware.Or should I just get another oven because GE sucks.ThanksK

Mark all the wires before you start pulling them.  As a backup, take a picture with your digital camera.  If you can, change over the wires one at a time.

You can have an electrician install whole-house surge suppression protection at your circuit breaker box.  But, mostly likely, this board failed because it's cheesy PCB board  made for appliances.

ThanksPictures are a good idea.\oh well for good measure I could do the surge protection.  I hope it doesnt happen again. We just saw that the clock starting flashing.  But I think it is because the panel got to cool down after being unplugged.  Other than that, we cant press any other buttons, so I assume the panel is still what needs to be replaced.
