Furnace Humidifier - Looking for Suggestions

How big is the house and how much space do you have to work with on the plenum? Is the furnace upflow or downflow?

Do you want automatic humidity control that adjusts the setting as outdoor temps get colder or would you prefer a manual control?

In general terms the bypass or powered flow through humidifiers with replaceable water panels work very well. AprilAire and Honeywell are reliable equipment.

Maybe about 800 square feet I think.  It is a downflow.  Good space above the filter (maybe like 18" high by like 12" wide).

Automatic is nice, unless there is a reason to go adjustable.  Turn a dial every winter isn't a big deal really.

Most downflow furnaces do not have exposed supply ductwork to utilize a bypass type humidifier unless the furnace is setting on top of an a-coil case. You would need enough room for a 6" round takeoff.

The AprilAire model 550 is 12-7/8" W x 12-3/4" H designed for smaller homes at 12 Gal/day output
