Comfortmaker forced air heater (to late to go up into attic for #)

Not sure if this is a problem but since they closed the freeway (snow)it is so quiet in our house I have noticed this hum kind of noise.  I traced it down to the starter capacitor attached to the heater electronics up in my attic.  If I switch off the power to it it stops making the noise.  The fan starts up fine.  Should it be making any noise?  When I remove the side cover the tamper switch opens and again the noise stops.  I also hear the relay open and close when I activate the cover tamper switch.  Is the noise normal or is this the begining of something going bad?

Thanks,

Mark

It is possible.  It was kinda late last night and I could not make to much noise up there.  The unit works fine otherwise.  The transfomer makes more sence.  It may be that it is transfering through the sheet metal and when I grab the cap it deadings the noise.  I will check it tonight.

Thanks,

Mark
