I used to work for Maytag Factory Service and the only Maytag products I would buy is the bottom mount refrigerator or the French door refrigerator, everything else they make now is pure junk.
If Whirlpool was still producing the belt drive washer I would recommend the Dependable Care washer and dryer, but Whirlpool's direct drive washer and the normal 29 inch dryer with the lint screen in the top is just as reliable and they cost far less than the Maytags.
