Outside unit comes on but indoor blower doesnt blow Goodmancple24-1ab

  Hey, what a great site

I have a 9 year old Goodman heat pump. last summer at times the indoor blower wouldn't blow but the outside unit would be running. I could turn the thermostat off then back on and it would work. I bought a new thermostat and installed it but it still had its problem.

All winter it worked fine, but now its back to doing what it was. I can select heat and the blower works. This problem seems to be only on the cool side. The thing wont even let me turn on the fan manually while it is in the cool mode.

   Thanks for any help.

Sounds like a problem with the controls in the air handler, can you get a valid model number from the indoor unit? If not maybe a copy of the wiring diagram so we can point you in the right direction.

The Force is telling me it's the Evaporator Fan Relay.  Next time the fan is not running when you know it should be, check for 24 volts to the relay's coil.

The Goodman site is currently locking up on me but from what I did see the fan uses a time delay relay which is similar to a sequencer. It is common for the contacts to go bad and work intermittenly. As Jedi Appliance Guy said it will require checking for 24vac input at the relay and then checking the 120vac contacts to verify that they are not closed. As seen in the part link the brass terminals are 24vac input and the silver are the 120vac contacts.

A quick no meter check that usually shows the problem is to turn on the unit and let it run for a couple minutes, turn off power then back on. If the fan begins to run change the relay.

After a little meditation, contemplation and staring into the bubbling cylinder of enlightenment, the Force has sent this vision to me.  A simple test for someone who does not know the ways of the Force or have Force sensing meters would be to turn the fan switch at the thermostat to the "ON" position for a number of days.  If it does not ice up during that period but ices up again after returning the switch to the "AUTO" position, it's a pretty safe bet it's the fan relay.
