As a customer servicer "supervisor", I've had these calls, too. The one Burnt mentioned about the whole "guests for dinner thing"; I've had that one, and right before Thanskgiving..."I'm having 30 people for dinner!" And I DID think to myself (but not aloud), "Great...that's 60 hands to help you wash up!"
And as far as lazy, and prioritizing...
Got a call from an old school, Italian consumer in New York; he was upset because, due to the limited space in the kitchen of their apartment, the Technician doing the repair work was going to have to take the dishwasher into the shop for repair, there simply was no room to work on the unit in their home.
He stated the reason he was so upset was that his wife is handicapped and wheelchair bound, and unable to wash dishes without the dishwasher.
When I took the call, he started right off complaining about the representative he had spoke to earlier.
"Hey..that Jeff! He's a regular *&%$! COMEDIAN! You know what he said to me? You know what he SAID to ME??? He said I should help my wife wash the DISHES!! Can you BELIEVE the nerve a that guy??"
So...you're wife's handicapped, but you're so "macho" you can't be bothered to wash the dishes yourself?
I found it both hilarious...and a tad bit sad.

"If you want your tree to produce plenty o' fruit, you've got to cut it back from time to time. Same thing with your neural cells. Some people might call it brain damage. I call it prunin'".

Your Sometimes-Lucid Host:
"If I can't help you fix your appliance and make you 100% satisfied, I will come to your home and slice open my belly,
spilling my steaming entrails onto your floor."
