The dryer does not stop running when it gets to the end of a cycle.  The only way to make it stop is to leave the door slightly open.  Is it something within the switch/dial that is broken?  If it's an easy fix, I'd love to give it a try.

Sounds like the push to start switch is bad. They are easy to replace.

Yes, jln1966 is right, replace the "push to start" switch and you should be back in business.
