So I finally got the warranty company to let me call an authorized sub zero rep.

Thanks for the input.

For kicks here are photos of what's going on . . .

I still have this problem, replaced fan after being told by SZ that the original fan was defective, but so sorry, out of warranty. Worked for 2 weeks, then fan started making noise, discovered the same lack of defrost as above, noise from fan contacting ice buildup. Defrost cycle not operating properly, condenser continues to run while defrost is occuring. SZ says needs new controller board $3-400 for the part (which can't be purchased anywhere except for SZ now). GRRRRRR... Will never have another SZ. I have 4 houses and the KitchenAid Built in that's 20 years old is the best of everything. I've already thrown one SZ in the trash, now, it;s looking like this one will shortly follow. Just a rant,....if the controller board works, I'll let you know. I don't expect it to, I think these years (98-04) of SZ are trash! Gonna go drink now.

Thanks for the pointer, that board is after my serial number. The wife unit had it replaced while I was traveling, controller board seems to have fixed the problem for now. It's been running for 48 hours with no problems. We'll see!

Okay, just rediscovered my old thread. I don't know what the fix was last time but I've got the same problem again - without the ice.

My 700 TCI is cooling in the bottom compartment but not in the upper refrigerator compartment.

Any hints on troubleshooting? How can I tell if the board is bad?

Of course this happens two days before thanksgiving with a bird ordered?!?!
