      All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
      We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
      Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
      Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
      When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:
      Click here to go to the forum topic with the registration link. If you're interested, register now. Arrive a couple minutes early to make sure your connection is working. Set a reminder for yourself for this workshop so you don’t miss it.  And check out past workshops here: https://appliantology.org/announcement/33-webinar-recordings-index-page/

MOBILE HOME COMBINED UNIT INNER CITY PRODUCTS MODEL867.81932

I INSTALLED A USED INNER CITY PRODUCTS ALL IN ONE MOBILE HOME A/C UNIT THIS SUMMER AFTER MY OLD UNIT TOOK A CRAP . I ALSO CHANGED OUT THE OLD MERCURY BULB T-STAT WITH A RITETEMP PROGRAMABLE TYPE , TO BE HONEST, THE T-STAT HOOK UP WAS A STAB IN THE DARK ON MY PART . TO MY SURPRISE ALL WAS WORKING GREAT, UNTIL IT TURNED COLD AND I TRIED TO TURN ON THE HEAT.

NOW I GET NOTHIN.... WHEN I TURN ON AT THE T-STAT, NOTHING COMES ON AT THE UNIT. I CAN MANUALLY PUSH IN ON THE CONTACTOR AT THE UNIT AND EVERYTHING FIRES UP, FAN COMPRESSOR, EVEN GET COLD AIR IN THE HOUSE.

 I WAS TOLD TO CHECK THE 24V TRANSFORMER BUT I ONLY KNOW A LITTLE BIT ABOUT USING A METER TO CHECK VOLTAGES. I DONT KNOW WHERE TO START CHECKING ...CAN YOU WALK ME THRU IT?

COULD I HAVE HOOKED SOMETHING UP WRONG WHEN INSTALLING THE NEW T-STAT THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE TRANS TO BLOW?

how many wires and what color are they on the thermostat ?

normally:

Rh=RED: heat power

Rc= RED: cool power

W=WHITE: heat

Y=YELLOW: cool

G=GREEN: fan (optional)

on your thermostat, if you don't have separate wires to Rh and Rc, then you'll need a jumper wire across them.

THAT IS CORRECT, AND THE JUMPER WAS INSTALLED OUT OF THE BOX.

I ALSO CHECKED THE VOLTAGE AT THE T- STAT  AND THE BLOCK AT THE UNIT WHERE THE T-STAT WIRES HOOK UP AND THERE IS NO VOLTAGE( STAT SET TO "COOL-AUTO")

HOW DO I CHECK THE TRANSFORMER?  CONTACTOR ?

WHAT VOLTAGES SHOULD I SEE?

What terminals do you have out at the unit that the thermostat wiring goes to?

R to C at the unit should be 24VAC, if no voltage here verify that you have 230VAC at the disconnect. Then we move to the transformer primary leads.

Any chance you can post a wiring diagram or do you have another model number listed on the unit? It is made by Intercity Products and they usually list another number that we could look up info on ICP.

all simple tests . to check transformer  , take the red and green wires that go to the thermostat and touch them together ,some units have a delay so hold for at lest 15 seconds . if the indoor blower fan starts blowing . tranformer is good  . FYI if you old thermostat did not have a c=common  wire no matter what you do at the thermostat you cannot blow the transformer ,even if you put all the wires in a ball ,just everthing would come on at once   . past that you need to know if your heat is a HEAT PUMP or ELECTRIC STRIP HEAT  or GAS HEAT    to get the right thermostat , you may have the wrong one or you might have to set a few switches inside to make it work . so first make your test with your green wire and red one , together makes fan run , TRY IT   and get back to us

All you guys are great ! I love this site!!!!!

This stuff aint rocket science.  I was always taught to ask for help if you need it.

All I needed was a little direction and.... BAM....there is was.

Turned out to be a smoked transformer.

Thanks to parts guy at ASTRO TOO in West Melbourne, Florida for confirming it and getting me off on the cheap.....total job cost to me   $26.50 cash , a couple hours of head scratching and five well spent dollars to get on this site

THANKS TO ALL
