Are you plugged into a surge protector?

Are you plugged into a surge protector?

Nope.

I know these can help, but I don't think this is the issue. The fridge can run fine for months at a time.

The fridge now has the original fan and control board.

They can help protect the control board. Even if you have a whole house surge suppressor, you still need to use a localized outlet suppressor. You can continue replacing your control boards or you can spend about $20 down at the Walmart for a little protection.
