Extend the life of your elements

Small tip........on your electric water heater, set the bottom thermostat for 115 degrees ( F ) and set the top thermostat for 120 degs.  As cold water enters the tank, the bottom element turns on..... when the t-stat is satisfied, the element is turned off.  Most of the time, the top element will not turn on,  (the water is heated by the bottom element, hot water rises in the tank, keeping the top t-stat from closing, heating the rest of the tank/water)................  You draw hot water from the top of the tank..... bottom element is doing all of the work.......

Another one I found out by accident several years ago was that on the bolt in elements there was an arrow and the word UP. With the element installed with the arrow pointing up, the element life went from 1 year to several.

Draining and flushing sediment out of the tank helps element life too.
