My whirlpool dishwasher did not drain the other day. So, I unhooked the drain hose and found the clog. However, now my dishwasher will not start or work at all. It is recieving electricity. Help!

I will get the model number tonight and post it. I think it is pretty old. I just bought the house.

My son managed to find the Model number. It is a Whirlpool 8900 series. DU8900 XY-1. I wonder if I hit the reset button too many times and forgot to select an option? Will this keep it from working? Yikes, I think it was operator error. I found the operating manual online. :?

Start with the door switch if you have varified the wires are still connected that give the power to the dishwasher, these are wire nutted together and do come loose.

Okay. I will look at it this evening. They might have come loose when I checked the drain hose.

Finally!!!!

I have not posted because I have not had time to tackle the dw. I have been too busy in my "new" fixer upper with flooring, hot water heater and other issues that are more important than my dishwasher (I suppose ;) ). So, I finally tackled it. I found that the micro switch at the handle is black and melted. I bet this is it but I need to find the part and replace it. I first checked all of the connections and the outlet. They all worked. So, I took off the door and checked this connection to the handle/switch. Guess what? It was black. I have to thank this forum for giving me the info. I would never have been brave enough to take off the door panel without this forum. Anyway, I need to order a microswitch for my DW. I know which part it is but do not know how to say (type) it. Help Samurai guy!!!

Grasshopper.

Pegi,

BTW, I think you are right. It is the door switch. :) Thank you very much. Now, how do I find the part?
