I had a call complaining of mold in their new Whirlpool Tall Tub dishwasher. I asked if they go long intervals of time in between using the dishwasher but they said no, they use it about every other day. I haven't gone to look at it yet, but I'm guessing the problem may be too much detergent??

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this problem with the tall tubs. This is the first I've heard of mold in one.

Visible mold or just moldy odor?

Seems if she were using too much detergent, there would be other problems, such as leaking.

See this thread for insight on odor problems.

According to the customer, it is visible mold around the soap dispenser, the rinse aid dispenser, and just below the door.

What brand and amount of detergent is she using in the dishwasher?

Maybe she is not using Jet-dry, and water is clinging to the door panel. I would check water temp, and make sure she is using heated dry.
