I am looking for some comments or advice regarding a way to reduce calcium buildup or reduce water hardness from City water supply.
We cannot use a salt regeneration type brine system and I am looking for other options.
Please comment regarding other systems and use results.

Alot of softeners can be programmed to use potassium chloride as an exchange agent if that suits your fancy
Reverse osmosis will remove calcium as well
