I have looked thru the " who made it " list but no mfg. list for model number 625.342502.........  The unit only lasted 22 years with the broke/failed parts N.L.A.  The system is used as a rust remover on the well water, do not need  the water softened but it was there when we bought the property...Three homes and 7 people use the system ...Would like to get another unit made by the same mfgr. if possible......................I use 'Morton water softener  with rust remover'.....  It works good on removing rust...I stopped  for a while to see if we need it , About seven days later, orange tinted work shirts, orange tinted bath towels, orange tinted bath tub..... yes we need it...............

Its a stay rite made for sears. Yours probably has a valve plunger type head which in not in production. Now its the standard rotary valve design. Not a bad unit for the money, simple to fix once you get the hang of it. They come in two flavors, one is the simple programmable regeneration design, thew more expensive one has a turbine counter that tells the computer how many gallons of water have passed through, and then decides when to regenerate based on how many grains of hardnewss you have set the unit for.

They actually have just a rust remover,same principal as water softner, have a chemical contianer hooked up to venturi, alot of them up in new hampshire, think sears has 1

The old units were made by The Lindsay Water Company, who were eventually eaten up by Ecodyne (EcoWater now), Iron filter works on the same principle as softener, but has a different mineral bed and regenerates with potassium permangenate - rule of thumb is that a softener can remove 7 ppm of "clearwater" iron (not seen when water drawn,but becomes visible as water sits and oxidizes)- If hardness is not an issue, Iron filter may be your best choice, be forwarned that pot perm makes a real mess (purple staining) of rinse and backwash water, not something you'd want to pump into a septic feild or nearby river

 

BTW- what parts do you require for model 625342502 that are NLA ?

Uses potassium permanginate to clean the filter medium. Dont get any on ya!

I need..... Actually the  rotor disc is very difficult to rotate, the motor stalls, but with enough effort it will turn ...I added a drop or two of turbine oil and after a day it is a bit easier.... the cam and gear is available but not the rotor disc.........I was going to force the cam off the plastic  rotor disc  ( of course the shaft would break, murphys law "It will break if parts are no longer available." ) but it would not be usable (  manually rotated ) I was going to check the gaskets to see if they were damaged....there is a gasket kit but no rotor disc...maybe there is a different unit out there that uses the same disc.............. old mechanical timer and plastic push button to program, no electronics........

Sears says it part # 7073965 N/A

Yes, that is the part that I use - 7103956 and the seal kit, lubricate rotor face liberally with the foodgrade silicon grease in the kit, be sure to install the "spider gasket" with the concave facing down and clean the channel out well before installing - common repair, ak=ll should work well afterwards, although you'll need to run several consecutive regenerations to clean resin bed.

Not sure if this applies, but be sure to free up the plunger and spring while you have it apart. Seem to remember having a recall or to from that before I wised up. Its been a few years since then. Good luck!

Thanks for the help.... I don't know how REG US does it..........Finds the most obscure part(s)  in the haystack..... Thank telefunkenu47 and Kdog for the tips ..will get the  parts ordered soon.  to much  $$$ to purchase a new rust removal system right now................

The filter bed wants to be cleaned with resin bed cleaner fairly often in  the course of a year. you can get it at sears, or any water treatment place. Caustic soda, so be CAREFULL. Instructions on the bottle. over and out.
