Upon moving to a new house, I've discovered a very odd problem with the inherited Whirlpool oven. The "temp increase" button makes the displayed temp go down! Unfortunately, the temp decrease button also makes the temp go down...so right now, I can't cook above 350F (the default that appears when you press Bake). It's a Whirlpool model RS675PXGQ2 single oven, no drawer (I think, last few characters are smudged...and yes, I tried to rub it off). I've talked to Whirlpool, and they can only tell me that my oven was sold 10 years ago (so out of warranty) and that a service call will be required. Google tells me that others have the same problem [link], but no solutions have been posted. Apparently, however, it seems to occur after the oven runs through a self-cleaning cycle. I've tried cutting the power via the breaker overnight, with no luck. Any thoughts before I give up and call in the service guys?

It may be 12 on the end...the last two characters are printed right on top of each other, I think. I've been staring at it for the last 5 minutes.

Sounds like the control is bad...only repair is to replace it

Ugh...that's what I've been trying to avoid, since it looks like a front panel assembly for this oven runs +$400.

Has anyone seen this problem before? I was hoping it was some kind of programming/logic issue, since it's a fairly unusual problem that multiple people have reported (which tends to eliminate my first hypothesis, dirty/sticky contacts).
