If the Element shorts to ground, turning the Oven OFF may not help.

Info from the YouTube Video author:

".. my oven went supernova on me while the heating element was burning.

It had been doing this for about a half hour.

Management told me not to touch the stove or I woulda flipped off the breaker.

Figured I'd get some pics and a video while it was doing its thing.

It decided to try to kill me near the end."

That was pretty amazing.  I never got to see one going out in action and never heard of one ever lasting that long,  WWWWOOOOWWW!!!!!!

Enough time to actually record it and get close in there and had to touch the range to get bounced back like that.

The circuit breaker is what you go to immediately in this situation, trying to turn the oven off you could get shocked by just touching the knob, (good chance you would be ok, most of the knobs are plastic but you want to be safe).

The circuit break switches at the circuit box and touching the circuit box cover/door shouldn't be any problem.

Maybe the surge he felt somehow damaged his ability to procreate. If so, do any of you know of a better example of Darwin's Theory?

I was laughing so hard that my whole family came over to see what was so funny. We had to watch it again. This guy exemplifies the saying, "Your purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others."

Throwing some bacon grease and then a big cup of water on it might increase the WOW factor!

Wow. That was like a Tesla coil. People dont realize the power built in their appliances. Remindss me of a friend of mine who decided to solder something in an old Soviet TV but the thing was still plugged in (220V in Europe). Basically the same thing happened with him ending across room and lots of smoke and lights lol

I saw that before, what a dumb ass is right. Check out this video of a guy up on a high power transmission tower, another dumb ass.

It wasn't nearly this dramatic as Samurai''s video.  But a couple of years ago I worked on an old school Crosley sxs refrigerator.

Customer complained it was making a burning smell. I plugged it in and was glad to get a picture of it before it quit the fireworks. Compressor relay  sounded like a low amperage arc welder before it set itself on on fire. Uncle H said it was a first for him.  Have any of you guys saw one actually light up?

Haven't ever caught one in the middle of burn out like that but have had 3 or 4 that where completely melted down.

One had the compressor terminal completely burned off and not savable, the last one was a Whirlpool and burnt half the compressor terminal off but was just enough left to attach to new relay and it worked OK, (with the customer notified that it may not last).

I have only seen the after effects of one burning. The entire plastic cover was melted to bottom of compressor compartment.
