All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:
Click here to go to the forum topic with the registration link. If you're interested, register now. Arrive a couple minutes early to make sure your connection is working. Set a reminder for yourself for this workshop so you don’t miss it.  And check out past workshops here: https://appliantology.org/announcement/33-webinar-recordings-index-page/

Kenmore Washer won't spin

Recommended Posts

Motor runs, tub drains, but unit does not spin. Agitator works during wash cycle, but there is no tub movement (I'm not sure if there is supposed to be.)

Okay, the lid switch seems alright. I have continuity at the lid switch with the lid closed, and no continuity with the lid open. It will have to be something more expensive...

Hello, my unspun friend. May I be so bold as to suggest that we perform one additional test to verify that the lid switch is not the problem? Very well, I suggest that we perform one additional test to verify that the lid switch is not the problem.

Let us insert a jumper wire in the two outer wires of the lid switch harness and run the washer this way.

If no change, then I must ask you whether or not the motor is running during the no-spin cycle, and, if not running, then whether or not it is getting 120v at the main run winding.

In answering these questions and performing this additional test, we are endeavoring to determine whether the problem is a mechanical one or an electrical one.

I went too far and pulled the whole cabinet off to check the lid switch. While I had it apart and was awaiting further diagnosis, I pulled off the plastic cover that covers the inner and outer tubs. I found a washcloth had somehow wormed it's way into that space and was apparently inhibiting the spin cycle. After removing the dishonorable article, I reassembled the washer and tested it and it is now working again. I had seen this as a possible cause of the problem on your RepairClinc.com link, but had discounted it as not within my usual scope of luck. As always, thanks for the assistance and this site rocks!
