Kitchenaid Model KUDS230BWH0 leaks water from around motor

Recommended Posts

My Kitchenaid Dishwasher Model KUDS230BWH0 Ser. FE0724801 has started leaking underneath around the motor. The unit will not hold water at all. I'm assuming that the bottom seal has given up the ghost. How do I dissasemble the unit to get to this seal so that I can replace it and not have to do dishes the old fashioned way.

Other than this problem, the unit has performed wonderfully for 15 yrs. Kind of hate to get rid of my old friend.

The worst part of this job is the rust on the motor mounts. May be so bad that you'll need to cut them off. Here's a breakdown diagram.

Thanks for the breakdown diagram, but I could use a little more info. I have managed to remove part #14. But not sure what to take off next. Do I attack from the top or bottom? Which screws do I remove to accomplish what I need to do? I'm sure a can get to the gasket if I know where it is located, can't really tell from the diagram. Do I need the pump centering tool #31? I am good mechanically and can fix anything I just need the right info and don't want to take apart more than I need to. Additional information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Fantastic! I will start with replacing the main seal for the assembly to the tub as you indicated in your first reply without actually opening the pump and inner workings. I hope this with solve the problem. If not I now have the procedures to dig further into the inner workings. Thank You! I shall be forwarding libation funds shortly and the misses will be extremely happy which will make me extremely happy!

Thanks!!!
