All I have is the use and care on this one. I'll look around some more for the service manual.

Did you know there was a recall on these?

BSH recalls nearly half a million dishwashers

BSH Home Appliances Corporation is recalling 476,000 dishwashers manufactured at its New Bern plant to repair a defective electrical control panel.

Company officials have been working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission for three months to set up the voluntary recall announced on Thursday, said Chuck Dale, human resources director.

He said the recall was initiated after 51 reports of problems and 30 fires caused by the part installed at the New Bern Plant but manufactured in Europe.

The recall involves 10 Bosch and Siemens brand dishwasher models made between May 1999 and December 2005. They were sold through BSH distributors nationwide.

"As far as I know, we have never had a dishwasher recall in New Bern," Dale said. "And keep in mind we have manufactured more than three million dishwashers here during that time."

Repairs will be made by "our own service technicians or authorized technicians across the U.S. certified by BSH," Dale said.

He quoted company founder Robert Bosch: "It has always been an unbearable thought to me that someone could inspect one of my products and find it inferior in any way. For that reason, I have constantly tried to deliver only products which withstand the closest scrutiny - products which prove themselves superior in every respect."

Dale said: "We stand by our products and consumers believe in us. There is not a time limit on these repairs. We are leaving it open indefinitely. We will do it as long as it takes to get it done."

The fires reported to have come from the overheated electrical component have not resulted in any injuries, Dale said.

Marni Hale, corporate communications manager in Huntington Beach, Calif., said company officials "are grateful that there have been no reported injuries. The safety of our customers is of the utmost importance to us and that is why we are working in full cooperation with the authorities to recall the dishwashers for repair."

Consumers can see if their dishwasher is affected by checking the model and serial number inside the dishwasher door panel on the upper right side and then calling (800) 856-9226 or visiting the brand Web site at www.boschappliances.com or www.siemens-home.com.

Model numbers include Bosch dishwashers beginning with SHE43C, SHE44C, SHE46C, SHE56C, SHU33, SHU42, SHU432, SHU43C, SHU53A and Siemens model number SL34A with serial numbers FD8308 to FD8505.

Hale said operators are available at all times to help determine whether customers have a dishwasher in the recall and to help schedule a free repair, which can be made in about a half hour.
