All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological: bidness, customers, tools, troubleshooting, flavorite brewski, whatever. Webcams and microphones are open and live!
This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, March 30 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:
Click here to go to the forum topic with the registration link. If you're interested, register now. Arrive a couple minutes early to make sure your connection is working. Set a reminder for yourself for this workshop so you don’t miss it.  And check out past workshops here: https://appliantology.org/announcement/33-webinar-recordings-index-page/

Suggestion

The suggestion box is an excellent idea :excl: As I mentioned before, A "toolwanted" and "tool available" category in the classified, I have plenty of vintage washer tools that I will likely never use again (haven't for many years due to economics of repair) - By the posts I read, people in other parts of our Continent still perform these repairs and may be interested in purchasing/bartering/somehow aquiring these things, and also those whom are seeking certain tools, may be able to find them.

How about this - any way it can be manipulated to display the model # from the title in the space where the posters name appears in the box of the previous post. This would only be needed in the actual repair forums - it may also deter threads to be posted without the model #. If this is possible, it would make it easier to look up a part as the model # would be right there. i have found that sometimes it takes a bit of looking around to find it - depending where it was placed in the original post

sorry for teasing when techs ask for a model number that was posted in a thread, me thinks this suggestion might be my fault

Here's another suggestion; since the "reply" button that appears in the bottom of the posts is an obvious sore spot, anyway you can change the image in the box to appear as "quote" ?

There's no way to do it in the control panel. It would require tinkering with the code.

It is a design flaw, IMHO. It really should have been named "quote" to begin with. OTOH, people can plainly see that they're quoting when they compose their post and can easily delete the quote. But most don't.

I'll put in a support ticket and ask how I can modify the button name.

and put the "real" Reply button on the same line..

some people don't see it because it's further down, sometimes below an "pop-up ad"

Me no have no stinking pop-up ads, por favor!

Maybe even if the color of the "real reply box" was in some kind of color that would draw your attention there (bright yellow, red, flickering etc). But you are right about still being able to erase the whole quote simply enough.

How about reversing the function of the 2 buttons (reply and reply to box)

BTW - I get pop up ads too (one was for ge fridges! :yikes: )

Figgered out how to change the button to say "Quote" instead of "Reply." Yay, me! :bart:

You're getting POP UP ads!? This is a shocker because the only ads on this site are Google ads-- same ones that were at the old forums and on my blog. I don't think Google ads do pop ups. I will rip them out by their roots if they're starting to slip stinking popup ads in their ad insertion code! I've not seen any pop ups. Anyone else getting pop ups?

Looks much better, this will likely solve the issue.

I may be using the wrong terminology when I say "pop-ups", they are google ads, they just show up where I'm not quite used to ignoring them yet and One that caught my eye was several different g.e. fridges

we may be confusing pop-ups with "ads"

are pop-ups "over-laid" onto the messages ?

these are not.. these are a one to two inch tall "ad" (widrh of screen)

There's one above the 1st post, and another between the 1st and 2nd message.

Yes and sometimes they appear as text and other times pictorial ads, no biggie, they're just like radio ads, I just ignore 'em

I think the pictorials only appear on the homepage

How 'bout this; the links to the members when reviewing the board (started by, posted by etc), any way you can make them change color (or the little triangles), when that member is online ?:beersign:

Here's another: When viewing the contents on the calendar, you need to click on the window "birthdays" - which will open up the content for that day, from that point- there should be a forward page/back page button so you can move to the contents of other days without clicking on the calendar tab and displaying the whole month again

That one may be above my paygrade-- it's a pretty involved modification of the code.

However, on another front, check out the new Add Reply button in each post box!
