i applaud all of you caring people, that is why i love this site, but take it from me if this unit is from 1973, its around 37 years old, dont invest any more money on this unit. your heat exchager and controls are worn out, upgrade to a new more efficient unit, i know what can happen, we care about people here, a new furnace is cheaper than you think, theys are what i think, im a old honest tech, and will always give you a honest answer. good luck bud.
