I could use some basic recommendations for picking out a new washer. We're looking for an energy star, top loading washer that is "Durable". We have a family of 7 and are washing probably 1 to 2 loads at least every day. Our last washer was a front loader Kenmore HE2Plus that has given us fits and spurts most of the time we had it. I don't need bells and whistles I need something that is going to run well for a long time. I am going to Sears to purchase as I have a bunch of credit there.

Thanks,
Bry

Whirlpool might still make a " extra large capacity" top loader with a "Direct Drive" transmission.

A friend of mine has one and loves it. No bells or whisles.Easy to work on, cheap parts, and every appliance tech in the world knows how to fix'em.

With this washer ,you might see slightly higher dryer times then from your old front loader because a top loader can't spin dry to super sonic speed.

Water usage might be slightly up as well. But no more need for HE detergent either.

Go find one while you can.

I believe Home Depot still has the Maytag Centennial top load on sale. Get em before their gone. I have 2 new ones in my garage that I'm saving for a special occasion.
