My 1385 dishwasher will fill with water, then stops. I move it to the wash cycle and it will wash and not advance. I just read another post that the dishwasher's water needs to heat to a certain temperature for the timer to advance. How do I know if the heating element is working properly?

Is there a different model number on the unit ?? Brand ?? or is it a Asko perhaps?? P.S. did you read the post on your surface switch question???

I did read the post and have found the part.

This dishwasher is an ASKO 1385. I've put in several new switches. The last set of switches went in (that should have been covered by recall and weren't) ended with the timer not advancing. I know the timer is not the issue--ordered another one and it's doing the same thing. Something is causing the timer not to advance. I crawled under the dishwasher this morning and tested the element and it tested fine. However, there is no heat...I'm patient and will get this system to work, just need some guidance.

cannot find a wire diagram for that model number, Do you have one that came with the unit?? maybe post it?? the element is ether good or bad, check the continuity. If continuity=good / no continuity=no good........look for a thermostat, that will tell the computer/clock when to advance.........possibly a small round disc attached to the bottom of the tub.........
