Put load of sheets, one blanket in washer. Started it. After a few minutes, son pressed pause to unlock door, opened it, put in one pair socks, closed it, held the hold to start button, but it didn't start. And the numbers in the time remaining are blinking. Tried holding the hold to start button again, tried holding the pause/cancel button, tried holding the reset button on the far right, tried removing some of the laundry in case out of balance. Help!

Give it the old hard reset....unplug for 5-10 minutes and try again
