I checked some of the other threads on transmission problems, but none of those sounded like the problem I'm having with this one.
It spins great with no clothes in it. With clothes, it spins for about 5 seconds 'til it gets up to speed.. then shuts itself back off. My first thought was "out of balance", but I've tried every possible way of arranging the laundry in the tub with no success. It does not make any unusual noises.

Can we get a re-check on the model number, not getting anything on it.
If this is one of the newer (post-1995) GEs, they will behave in this way. What happens is that the water is pumped out, and once it gets low enough, the water level switch registers "empty" and spin starts. As it spins, it re-pressurizes the switch and breaks the "empty" contact. This happpens several times before the spin gets fully under way. Is this what you're seeing?

Thanks for the link. It sounds similar, but mine doesn't get hot or make any unusual noises.
I tried it again last night, and it worked perfectly.
