The nut hub can be removed by rotating it counterclockwise.
Caution: Be careful not to break the clip on the hub when removing the main conduit from hub.
From there, the fine filter can be removed.

As far as removing the steel mesh, which is the coarse filter, I don't think there's a way to remove that; I think it's part of the factory-assembled basin.

Hello...it's been 2 years now and the ol' dishwasher has been working pretty well. I have to clean gook out of the sump occasionally, and I regularly check the spray arms to keep the holes unclogged. I never did replace that flapper valve, but now dishes are staying gritty despite my vigilance. I am going to order one of those valves, but would like some guidance as to how to replace it. I haven't dug into the guts of the dw past getting my fingers down into that sump. Will I need to get underneath or behind the dishwasher to do this? Also, are there any other parts that commonly wear and which should be replaced while I have it apart? I am hoping to keep it for a few more years. Thanks!!!
