All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:
Click here to go to the forum topic with the registration link. If you're interested, register now. Arrive a couple minutes early to make sure your connection is working. Set a reminder for yourself for this workshop so you don’t miss it.  And check out past workshops here: https://appliantology.org/announcement/33-webinar-recordings-index-page/

which part number are you using now ?

I think all look-alike PTC Starters are all the same,

but the Overloads are rated by amperage ...

Have been using a couple different ones. Looking for something like the W10247581 rework kit that covers a wide range of compressors.

I learned the hard way to only use OEM start relays and components. I don't mess around with the Supco 3-in-1's anymore. But I'm just nutty thata way. wacko.gif

I am on board with the Grand Master  on O.E.M. parts...If any thing goes wrong down the road and you used the correct O.E.M. parts, you do not need to second guess your self, "What If " :wallbash:........... In my neck of the woods, I carry the W/P kit 8201786.....I have done two different units off of one kit ( left over parts in the kit )... I beg to differ on the 3-N-1 hard start..For the dying or with the windings in the yellow ( on the Meg-O-meter )..... I carry the Supco RCO 810 ( service call/parts/labor- $155.00 )....It will get them thru till they can acquire another refer.

I agree with everything CTG51 says. Another good kit to have on hand is also the 8201799, (it only comes with one ptc push-on relay and two overloads that will take care of most all 20-27 Cb.Ft. SxS.

The kit CTG51 mentions above has many more parts in it and as he says you can do more than one job with that kit. You get one ptc push-on relay and two overloads and then you also receive two complete relay/overload push-on paks that have the post to mount a run capacitor - the overloads in the two complete paks are the same as the two individual overloads.

The complete relay/overload paks have a special plug in connector with the two small 1/8" spades side by side so you either have to have a spare connector of that special type or a couple the small insulated 1/8" push-on spade connectors like come with the Whirlpool dryer motors.
