"FE" is an OVERFLOW ERROR.

Usually a failing/failed WATER VALVE---this occurs more frequently in homes that use *well water*

Unplug the washer and:

Remove the top cover of the washer.

Pull the rubber hose from the WATER LEVEL FREQUENCY SENSOR---which is attached to the Main Board cover.

Blow air into tube to clear possible obstruction.

Re-attach tube & plug in washer.

Power up the Control Panel & select NORMAL WASH with WARM WATER fill. Press the START/PAUSE button.

Wait until water begins to enter/fill the tub continuously.

Press START/PAUSE button to interrupt the cycle. Has the water *stopped* entering the tub? If not, use your fingers to *feel* which of the black rubber hoses at the top of the washer still has water flowing through it. Trace the hose back to the WATER VALVE. Identify which WATER VALVE is allowing water to enter the tub. NOTE: the *single valve assy* is always the HOT water valve. Your washer has a *steam option* (if I'm not mistaken)---the COLD WATER VALVE ASSY should have (4) valves on it. Replace the valve that allows water to fill even when the washer has been *paused*.

If the Water Valves funtion normally:

1) Press & Hold the SPIN SPEED and SOIL LEVEL buttons---then press the POWER button.

2) Wait for the door to lock (single click sound).

3) Press the START/PAUSE button (4) times at one second intervals. This will activate the PREWASH fill.

4) Locate/feel which of the hoses has water entering (at the top of the washer).

5) Press the START/PAUSE button again (fifth time). This is MAIN WASH fill. Locate the hose that has water

pressure/flow. Now check the PREWASH hose again to verify that is indeed "off". If water is still entering in

the PREWASH HOSE---that valve has malfunctioned. Replace it.

6) Repeat the process by pressing the START/PAUSE button a sixth time (Hot water fill).

7) The 7th time is for the STEAM GENERATOR.

8) The 8th time is a test of the BLEACH DISPENSER valve.

9) Press the START/PAUSE button four more times (12th time) to drain out the washer.

Turn off the washer. If all of the valves function normally---you'll need a replacement MAIN BOARD ASSY (fairly rare).

Thanks RegUS_PatOff. I managed to find the WM2277 manual on the web before making my request. Very similar machines, but with my lack of experience, I'd feel better having the exact model. Maybe someone will come up with it.

Thanks John63. I'll run this procedure when I get home. I assume that the individual valves in the Cold Water Assembly cannot be replaced and the entire assembly must be replaced when any one valve fails, right?
