Is there a sequence to manually put this freezer into defrost mode? The wiring diagram does not show a defrost timer and the heater and defrost terminator wires go into the jazz pc board. I suspect the defrost terminator to be the problem but would like to confirm before I start snipping wires.

Sorry model # is MFF2558KEW

What is an adaptive defrost in newer models, which replaces the defrost timer?

one of the functions of the Jazz Board

Defrost Operation:
The Control Board adapts the compressor run time between defrosts to achieve optimum defrost intervals

Enter the Forced Defrost Mode by performing the following sequence of events:
1. Hold the refrigerator door light switch closed.
2. Press the Refrigerator Temperature Down keypad 3 times consecutively within 10 seconds.

Are you saying the display isn't working? If that's the case, then you need to verify valid power supply to both the refrigerator and to the display board. Tech sheet and wiring diagram and located behind the toe grill down in front.
