Hoping someone can help. Numbers 1-6 on the number pad on the stove are not working. I turned off the power to the unit for more than 30 seconds hoping that it would reset itself but it didn't. When I turned the power back on there were two codes on the display: EE-214 and M-214. Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

More then likely a failed touchpad console...very common on these units...
Those numbers are just software id #'s.

Thanks, but what's the fix? whole new console? Looks to be around $200, could probably install it myself? Is there any sort of test I can do to make sure that's the part I need?

Yep, that's the fix...pretty simple to change, you should be able to do it.
you could check the ribbon traces with an ohm meter if you had the matrix chart (maybe reg will hook you up with one) but in my experience this is a cut and dry diagnosis...could be the control but 95% of the time this is the touchpad.

OK now I'm a little confused. KI you say it could be the control but is more than likely the keypad, but the only part I'm finding is the Electronic Control, at the following link: http://www.repaircli...7P23060/1551088

Does this include the keypad? Thanks guys.

Thanks for the schematic there RegUS. Bear with me though as I'm a biologist so I am not trained in reading electrical schematics but I am a DIY fixer-upper so I reckon I can figure this out...with some assistance. I've got the unit apart and I believe I've found the part illustrated in your schematic but I am not reading any resistance across any of the points on the plug. Let me attempt to explain what I did so you may pick out what I am doing wrong. I've got the front of the stove removed (the bit with the keypad and openings for the stove knobs is flipped upside down where there is a flat "cord" and wide plug unplugged and revealed. I tested continuity on the metal bits on the plug end itself and am reading no continuity anywhere, even on points represented by keys that I know were working, such as keypad #5, cancel, etc.

DOes this make sense and can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

Closed circuitry resistance
(defined as continuity): 2000 Max Ω

do you have your OHM meter set on a high enough scale ?

Good question, my meter is pretty rudimentary. there really isn't much of an ohm scale on it but I do have it turned all the way up and when I touch the meter's probes together the needle shoots off the scale. I'm assuming this means the sensitivity of the meter is pretty high?

Did you try to have someone push the keys while you do the ohm test? :whistling:

1) model number ?
2) doesn't mean anything

No Harbor freight around here but we've got hardware stores and auto parts stores. I suppose it's time for an upgrade. My meter doesn't have a brand name or a model # on it. I've had it for a long time. In the meantime I'm going to order a panel and hope it does the trick when it arrives. Thanks a lot for your time.
