My Maytag electric double wall oven is only beeping and not functioning. It started beeping and beeping on its own but stopped on its own. Now it doesn't beep unless you push a button. It won't do anything but beep if you push a button now (won't turn on the oven or oven lights or anything.) The clock is on and seems to be working. The timers don't work. I have tried cutting the power, waiting a few minutes and turning back on. Nothing.

No codes were shown that I saw. Is there a way to ask it what's wrong? A way to show a code?

Would this be the control panel? Replace the control panel behind the touchpad?

Follow procedure below to use the quick test mode.
Entries must be made within 32 seconds of each other or the control will exit the quick test mode.
1. Press and hold CANCEL and BROIL pads for 3 seconds.
2. Once the control has entered the “Quick Test” mode, release both pads.
3. Press the AUTOSET button ..... Steps through last 5 diagnostic codes

Comes up 1C 2C as the only code. I'll search around for that unless you can point me in a direction based on that. Thanks much for the procedure!

I found the code - keyboard tail disconnected. But that makes sense because I removed the ribbon following someone else's troubleshooting. So I'm still at a loss as to what to try next to diagnose?

So they all seem to work except the 4 and 5 buttons which simply double beeped. After going through these twice the pad will not go into test mode and simply beeps when touching any button except cancel. For some reason the cancel button does not beep.

so are you suggesting I check continuity on all the touchpad buttons? one at time? Would this basically tell me if the touchpad is the issue? Why would 4 and 5 double-beep? Would that indicate the control panel? If I kill the power then I can go back into test mode again.

I went through the tests again and it appears there is something not working right - the cooling fan. When I hit convection bake during test mode nothing happens. all the other functions seem to work: the oven heats up, broiler heats up, lights work, the convection fan runs, cleaning lock activates, all but the cooling fan. Might the whole pan not work due to the cooling fan? is there a way I can test that?

so it appears the test buttons above are not exactly right. For my oven the convection roast button runs the convection fan in test mode. But when I hit 6 on the keypad the cooling fan kicks off. So the cooling fan is working. Seems like everything is working! Except I can't use my oven! Ideas?

Try testing the buttons, one at a time, with the continutiy test, this will tell you if the issue is in the touchpad or in the control. if the touch pad passes then you have a bad control.

so I tested a couple of buttons. One was totally fine at 5000 omhs. The cancel however was around 140k omhs. That's way out of spec. Would that mean that I should replace the touch pad?

By the specs listed above yes that would indicate a bad touchpad.

After checking some more buttons I found that some were shooting up to 0 Ohms. So I replaced the touch panel. It worked! Yeah! Thanks so much to everyone above for all the info and advice.
