This is a fridge in my rental property, so I can only test/try things on the weekends. It is only 18 months old. It blows my mind that it is not cooling. But I also had a tenant that was removed by the local police. So not knowing if it was sabotage or not, there is electricity....it did not feel warm to me, but I did not have a thermometer with me. I will take one this weekend. Last weekend I pull the back off and checked the fan and it was running. The coils were dusty but not a lot, I vacuumed them anyway. I checked the settings and closed up the fridge. I will check it when I go back.....it is an hour drive each way. So I was really wondering if you had suggestions of what to check. I did not get the extended warranty

was the Compressor running, also ?... the back off and checked the fan and it was running.
Would also need to check if the Freezer Fan is running
and check the frost pattern of the Evaporator Coils inside the Freezer
(picture) ?

Frigidaires (especially cheap apartment grade ones like these) have been notorious for refrigerant leaks in the evaporators. Post pictures of the frost pattern of the evaporator when you can.

yes the fan in the freezer is working, the air flows from the freezer to the fridge. Yes the compressor is running too.
When I took the back cardboard off that covers the compresser and fan and coil looking thing. I could feel cold air. For some reason it is not making to the inside of the unit.
I thought the freon was in a sealed system. So it could leak out????

Sealed system = compressor + the refrigerant tubing.
Yes, refrigerant can leak out and commonly does is sealed system failures.
Compressor failure is another sealed system problem. Usually less common than leaks but for some types of compressors, it's more common.
Either way, it doesnt matter-- sealed system failure in a cheap residential fridge is a terminal event. You're going shopping.

I get a lot of calls from landlords that have these Frigidaires and Frigidaire made Kenmores. Usually the same fact pattern: Tenant gone, power off for a while, signs of oxidation, fridge doors closed and sealed system failure. It appears that even the slightest oxidation in these fridges causes refrigerant leaks. I'm not sure if the power has been off with your fridge but I cannot stress strongly enough the importance of keeping power to your fridge or keep fridge doors open if there is no power to the fridge for a significant period of time.
Appliantology is, however appliances are not, an exact science for I know there are a few refrigerators that actually hate me.
The simplest explanation is most likely the correct and least expensive one, unless it's your compressor or motherboard" Occam as an appliantologist

never loss of power. Fridge was still plugged in and running every time I came here. 18 months old.....I am amazed

A Whirlpool, Roper or an Estate top mount refrigerator (freezer on the top) 18 cubic foot is my reccommendation for rental property.
Sealed system leaks are less common in these brands.
