Rheem gas furnace burners will not ignite

Burners will not ignite in the heat setting when temperature is turned up and no noise when the temperature is turned up and held.
what could be wrong?

There's the transformer right there on the left, hanging on the J-box. (Probably stapled.) Check for 24 VAC there.
Better yet, don't bother. Get a new Goodman in there.
Anyway, if you have 24 VAC at the transformer but not at the thermostat then you have a disconnect somewhere between the two devices. Do what Shootist advised, and also keep in mind that a mouse will chew through a t-wire in a heartbeat. I'd bet money on that, and I'd also bet money that old clunker does not have a terminal strip, so if you do have 24 VAC at the transformer your next move is to figure out how to jump the red and white in that spaghetti wiring in the furnace. Get that, and it should fire up, which if it doesn't, you got more than one problem.
