All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological: bidness, customers, tools, troubleshooting, flavorite brewski, whatever. Webcams and microphones are open and live!
This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:

The distance between the prefix offered by Sensei Reg and the numbers I posted was large; I'm sorry. The model number you list is correct, Reg. Thanks.

No service MANUAL, Sensei Reg? I need to access the thermistor, and put the unit into diagnostic mode.

Heated Dry - Normal - Heated Dry - Normal - Heated Dry - Normal

Thermistor is in the sump (they almost NEVER fail)

That stuff is all on the tech sheet he sent

According to the tech sheet, either the thermistor or the heater leads to LLOOOONNGG cycles (2 hours in my customer's case). The tech sheet isn't clear what's being test in which segment of the diagnostic cycle (compare with the clarity of a KM frontload washer tech sheet). What's been your experience?

My take is that heaters usually work or they don't - there have been times I have seen them with LARGE calcium buildup that seemed slow to heat, but you'd have wanted to replace it just by looking at it anyway. When considering long cycle times, how much are we expecting to heat the water ? (incoming temp) - and is there adequate circulation of the water to transfer the heat (pump clogs).

I don't really think that 2 hours would be all that excessive having chosen a fully featured cycle (SmartWash is best). The cycle times of some of the newer ones is somewhere around 3 1/2 Hrs - when they oscillate spray arms etc.

Even though the tech sheet says the heavy setting should last 95 mins? The customer's water "burns" without cold, but that doesn't mean it is operating at or above 120 F. How do I test for pump clogs--drain into a bucket, measure drain times?

So, after having a nice Advent plate of crow (for changing the sump sensor), I've still got three hour-plus washes. Shouldn't I go through the "seven blinks" fire drill? Check the heat circuit, door latch circuit, and motor circuit? Experience, or, at least, hoots of derision and "I TTOOLLDD you ssoooo"?
