All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological: bidness, customers, tools, troubleshooting, flavorite brewski, whatever. Webcams and microphones are open and live!
This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

Bradford White Electric 50gal- Model m250s6ds-1ncww

I return seeking knowledge... and help

The electric hot water heater is 4 years old (manufactured in may 2007).

Been working no issues until 3 days ago. Now I only get about a 5-7 minute shower out of her. Water starts at the right temp but cools off fast.

No leaks. Water pressure is fine. Water temp is fine to start off at least.

So the question is.. why? She is heating, or I would have no hot water.. the temp is still set at 145ish (and the set valve is covered by a screw on plate so it is hard to change). It is like it is only heating 1/2 of the 50 gallon tank.

Only good is that she is still under limited warranty, but looking for thoughts before I call my local HVAC guys (and to make myself smart!)

Thanks in advance.

3 possibilities; Limit tripped on one element, one element burnt, dip tube corroded.

The limits are under the covers. Red button. Also remember electricity is under the covers.

Elements can be tested for continuity with a multi-meter. Turn electricity off first!

The dip tube is part of the cold water inlet. It must be unscrewed from the top of the heater.
