Our Magic Chef CG53760ADW gas oven takes nearly an hour to heat up to 325.

From what I've read, I'm guessing this is probaly the electronic ignition?

Oven uses glowbar Ignitors, which get weak.

How long does it take for the GAS to come on. That is, do you see an orange glow for a minute before the flames ignite, or much longer?

The couple times I have been able to observe the oven, it has had an orange glow for a fairly long period after the oven was started - 10 minutes or so.

if you can, remove, the "Floor" of the oven, there should be 2 screws, in the rear, of the oven cavity. If you pull those out, and remove the cover, then you can get eyeballs on the flame. It is very possible, that the ignitor, is weak, and its taking a while to draw the proper amperage to start the gas flow. This can also be tested with an amp meter, clamped around one of the wire leads from the ignitor, to the gas valve, it should draw about 3.3A if im not mistaken.

If you choose to use the amp clamp method, and the Ignitor does draw proper amperage then, you may have a bad gas valve. I really doubt that the gas valve is bad. Many times I have learned the hard way that a weak ignitor is the cause of oven woes. You can also check the gas valve by using the Broil setting. The broil ignitor will come on and then shortly after you should have a flame, this will verify that the gas valve is good, and a weak Bake ignitor is the cause of your oven woes.

The orange glow is the bake ignitor, and if it takes 10 minutes to open the gas valve, then it would be very wise to replace the Bake ignitor.

Started the oven three times today; first time took the ignitor about 30 minutes of glowing prior to ignition, second time about 4 minutes glowing prior to ignition and the third time about 8 mintues of glowing prior to ignition.

BTW, RegUS_PatOff, are you a fan of your local Sprecher brewery?
