Tappan gas built in oven Mod. 12-3699-10

Wires to ignitor had been shorted out by gas co. tech. Replaced ignitor but no response. Shorted out control board also. Control board no longer available. Owner sent board off to Canada for repair. Still no response from ignitor. No voltage at ignitor. Ignitor ohms out at about 174. Could gas valve be bad since they are wired in series. What should ohm value of gas valve be?

.... What should ohm value of gas valve be?

about 1 OHM

(3v @ 3A)

A short on the Ignitor circuit to chassis (ground) shouldn't cause the Gas Valve to blow,

unless the Wall Outlet polarity was reversed,

OR the Gas Co. "tech" shorted across the Ignitor, or applied 120v to Gas Valve. :woot:
