I have a kenmore washer that will drain but wont spin. When I close the lid it makes the noise but is not spinning.

Is that model number 110.20702990? If it is you probably have a broken coupler. This part at Repair Clinic: http://www.repaircli...285753A/1195967. You probably have no agitation either.
