35 year old Maytag A608 top loading washer. Has been great. Suddenly it does not agitate, spin on "regular cycle", or fill on rinse. Is this a control problem, or something else? It does spin at end of "permanent press" cycle. -- Thanks! DonDee

Fills OK before a Regular Agitate cycle ?
sounds like it may be a bad Timer

Yes it fills ok before regular agitate cycle. But then it does not advance. instead it stopss. You can hear the timer clicking off time, but nothing happens.

Will it agitate/spin on other (non-regular) cycles ?

It won't agitate, but it will spin on permanent press cycle. Those are the only cycles.
