Budget, Now that you can see my oil level would you add any oil? and if so what kind? Notice I used my flashlight to try and show the level. It looks like it is 3/8" to 1/2" lower than the edge to me. The second picture shows it a little fuller because the tranny is leaning slightly to the right. From the picture of "The Ring of Sling" you haven't lost enough oil to worry about adding anymore, (unless there was a large amound on the floor under the machine). Oil is filled up to the edge of the lower transmission case.

These transmissions are pretty sturdy and my personal opinion is that you could probably run it completely empty of oil and it would most likely last a year or two.

In addition I HATE how dirty my tub looks so I took out the inner metal tub and plan to pressure wash out the scum from the inside and out side of the tubs. In this picture you will see crazy looking dirt scum... I mean are we just filthier than everyone else or is this normal???? I have never seen anyone elses pictures showing this kind of crazy nastiness. yuck.

2nd question: I feel like I am over analyzing this but wondering should I also replace the seals in the top of the tube? Can anyone verify from these picture that I have no leaks and these seals looks normal?

3rd, Is the tub rust in the bottom of the tub neck normal too? And the 2nd picture you can see down in my tub hole from the top. I don't actually think water is going down the tub center. I don't see where water or rust has been down the top or up from the bottom.

Any concerns before I throw it all back together with my new transmission seal and clutch? Should I pull out the tube with the brake and everything else to inspect before sliding the transmission back in? Any final advice will be greatly appreciated!! I actually hope that all my pictures will help someone else down the road....
thanks,

The water sloshing in your spin basket is sealed in the balance ring at the top. Do not try to drain the ring by drilling holes in it, LOL.

I did go ahead and fill my oil up. It took about 5 or 6 oz. Then after putting in all my new seals I used some Permatex silicone I had on hand.

Then inspected my brakes. everything looks good to me now...

I'll put it all back together tomorrow....

thanks, now that I'm finished with it I must fix my son's washer. It is an older kenmore I think. I have been using it for about three months. It washes better, spins the clothes almost dry but it is shaking like crazy in spin (like a motor mount is broken) and it is slinging grease on my wall. (I don't have a back on this old washer.) I'll start a post when I get it on its back and start looking at it. Any help on this picture is appreciated. 22 bullet is only for sizing....
thanks,

Doesn't look like anything I recognize.
Maybe part ref# 27 in the controls and rear panels picture, (the No Longer Available wire harness retainer)?

Naw, I don't think so since it does not have a screw that goes through it....Just that little pointed end that looks like it pops into a hole.
