I'm back at your mercy! You helped me fix my refrigerator last time - it's been clicking along, no problem. I'm cleaning the house for company, went to get a drink of water and I noticed....my bottle of water is warm! OMG! I looked at the temp on the display and it's 45 on the fridge and hot on the freezer side too! I run to the breakers and they are not flipped. I call my husband and comes home and we pull it out and the fan is running after we pull the back panel off at the bottom. The ice is all melting in the freezer. Where is the reset button? What are we going to do with the house full of company coming for the week?

HELP!

Is the compressor running? Is it hot/warm to the touch?
If not, unplug and access motherboard on rear...remove all plugs and remove board from holders.
Any obvious burnt marks or failed solders?

Great - where's the compressor? I took the panel off to the main board......

There's no frost. Temp is 38 is the freezer.

wouldn't you know my camera batteries are dead? all I have is a round black thing but I thought that held freon or something. It is labeled DC51C84RCU6 and then off to the side it says R134a
the 1C above may not be correct there's something over it.

Yep, if I Google R134a it's says Freon.

Where's that compressor?

depending on the first (2) characters of your Fridge serial number,
the MotherBoard may be covered under a Service Bulletin,
but must first also check to see if the Evaporator Fan runs OK.

Well, I appreciate the help.

It's going to be a LONG weekend. Nobody in town has this. Everybody is closed. Company is coming. BUT on the bright side - at LEAST we don't have to buy a new fridge.

Thanks again.

Don't give up just yet...I see you are a merit apprentice. If you have a soldering gun, it is possible to clean up and resolder this joint, if only as a temporary fix.
Give it a shot....can't really do any more damage.

You'll need some electrical solder instead of the plumbing stuff I believe ya use for stained glass...
can't hurt to try...just might get a working fridge for the weekend :-)
