All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:
Click here to go to the forum topic with the registration link. If you're interested, register now. Arrive a couple minutes early to make sure your connection is working. Set a reminder for yourself for this workshop so you don’t miss it.  And check out past workshops here: https://appliantology.org/announcement/33-webinar-recordings-index-page/

touchpad problems on a GE sxs GSS25SGSASS

Hey all. The touch pad works intermitantly, works well when it wants to. Othertimes nothing. The light on the indicator will dim or go out when you push in the dispenser lever. Has had the classic corrosion at the bottom of the door, which was cut and spliced by others. The dimming of the indicator makes me think voltage drop. Any thoughts? Good 12 vdc to board, momentary switch works well. Auger, water, cube and crush all work, but only when it wants to.

Thanks in advance

I'd check that splice fix again at those connections. I've batted cleanup behind lots of servicers in my area and have found that, astonishingly, most do not know how to make a proper splice (or read a wiring diagram, or use a meter, or troubleshoot). For example, were water-proof splice connections used in the repair? It was water that caused the corrosion and failure in the first place and it'll do it again unless countermeasures are employed.

Thanks!

Good catch, Am Tech.... .....In my book, your repair was the way to go.......I hate to see some one use a 'bell crimp' connector and the wires barely making contact in the crimp..............With a solder joint and good heat shrink you can make a water tight connection or splice in a piece of wire and it will look ( should look ) professional...........I carry a bag with the soldering tool, electronic grade solder, solder wick, heat shrink ( some with sealant inside ), and a knot of wire in various lengths, gage and colors.........
